Pictogram rock posters

This project has now reached more than $10,000!! That’s amazing! I can’t tell you how happy I am, it really means a lot to know that people like my posters and want to buy them. Thank you so much!

2012-06-25: Update #3 - 100 BACKERS!
I’m still overwhelmed by how fast this project was funded- thank you so much once again!
The posters will be printed in the beginning of August, and shipped as soon as possible after that. It wasn’t possible to print them earlier, since the print shop is closed a few weeks during the summer.
NOTE 1: I will send a survey to everyone who pledged when this project has ended, which lets you choose poster(s) and submit all the necessary info, so no worries! If you were one of the first 100 backers, or pledges for all eight posters, you will of course get to choose which free poster to get. If you pledged for all eight AND were on of the first 100, you'll receive both 'Time for wine' and 'Coffee and cigarettes'.
NOTE 2: please, make sure to add the proper shipping cost, see more info about the different fees on each pledge level. If you already pledged and forgot the shipping cost, you can just click on “Fund this project” again, and add the correct amount (I will add this to the record).

There seems to be some ambiguities regarding the choice of poster(s)- I will contact everyone who’ve made a pledge, asking for which one(s) they want, at a later stage during this project’s period. So, don’t worry! Everything will work out just great!

Hello!
I’m Viktor Hertz and I’m a graphic designer from Sweden. This is my most ambitious, and maybe also the best, personal work I’ve done so far. I decided to pick a few bands and artists from the rock genre and make pictogram posters for them. Instead of just putting one single pictogram in each poster, like in my previous ‘Pictogram music posters’, I made as many as I could possibly come up with for each artist, and jammed them into one single poster. There is a total of 234 song pictograms in these posters. I started this project Jan 15th 2012, so I’ve been working on this for about five months. I am really happy and proud to be able to present them now.
The bands and artists that I chose are: David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. I’m aware of the absence of female artists in this list. I’m sorry about that, and I will try to make up for it in future projects.
All posters are printed on 170 g/m2 silk, sized 50 x 70 cm and signed by me. They are shipped in thick tubes, est. delivery late July/Early August 2012. This project is carbon dioxide compensated, new trees are planted in Mozambique after the printing. More info on this here: http://www.planvivo.org/ />
NOTE: the black borders around the posters are just for the digital display, these won’t be on the physical printed posters.
EXTRA BONUS: the first 100 backers receive an extra 70 x 100 cm poster (‘Coffee and cigarettes’ or ‘Time for wine’) free of charge!
The options are pretty basic; decide how many you want, and I will send you a survey later, which lets you choose which one(s) you want. Of course, the more you buy, the less you pay. Please, see additional shipping fees for each pledge level.

1. Why do you need that much money?
I’ve calculated the start-up printing costs for eight off-set prints, with 100 copies of each, plus the cost for shipping tubes, and it came down to this price. So, basically, I’ll break even, if the project “only” reaches 100%.
2. Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. Please, add additional shipping fees when pledging.
3. Are the posters limited?
No, but there is a risk that this might be the only time I print these posters, so get them while they’re available!
4. What size are the posters?
They are 50 x 70 cm, which translates roughly to 19.7 x 27.6 inches.
5. Will there be more posters like these in the future?
Maybe. I have a few unfinished ones, who didn’t make it to the end, so it’s possible.

I'm a freelance graphic designer and artist from Uppsala, Sweden. I focus on simple illustrations and make logos, posters and icons. I also try to be a photographer and film artist at occasions.
I was born in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1983. I started doing graphic design in 2009, just playing around with personal projects and illustrations. In 2010-2011 I attended an evening class in visual communication at Beckmans school of design in Stockholm. Now, I'm working on personal projects and do commission work.
